MY REVIEW

This album is not only tied as my favorite Beatles record with the "White Album", but it is also tied with the same album as my favorite album of all time. This album brings back the team of Lennon/McCartney.
The album starts off with a joyful McCartney tune "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and then goes into a truly Lennon/McCartney song "With a Little Help From My Friends". The pair takes turns on this tune giving one line and getting a reply from the other when it was written.
The tune "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds" follows these tunes and is an excellent John Lennon song. It was written about a picture that Julian drew.
There is only one Harrison song on this record "Within You Without You" which once again shows his preference to the Indian music style.
There are several high lights on this album and it all end with "A Day in the Life" which is probably the best Beatles song ever.
The record is the first concept album produced. It follows a theme, not just a set of songs thrown together. It should be listened to from start to finish to get the whole effect. On the CD version there is a write up listing the original song layout. I listened to it that way and it is great but hard to get used to (I have heard the albums thousands of times).
