MY REVIEW
This record was the last recording The Beatles did together as a group. It is
an excellent showing of what a band can do with a bunch of short songs. One of
my favorite songs by The Beatles is "Abbey Road" side 2, which seems like one
song.
John Lennon contributes only two songs on side 1, a rock classic "Come
Together" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" which ends abruptly. This was done
when the tape machine ran out of tape. John Lennon wanted to just keep playing
until the tape ran out as there wasn't much left when they were recording this
song.
George Harrison puts in two songs "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun" both are
some of his better songs.
Side 2 is a medley of short songs, some were recorded as one song but later
changed to separate songs. An excellent collage of music.
On "The End" there is some really good music. You get the only Ringo drum solo,
and a battle of guitars with John and George doing most of the solos and a bit
by Paul thrown in for good measure.
